RSP NEWS! important EVENT- Some of the most popular musical acts in the Lehigh Valley are banding together to help victims of an Oct. 20 fire that destroyed 10 houses in a half block of row homes in Allentown and displaced nearly 50 people. Hope For Allentown 2019, a concert featuring Scott Marshall, Craig Thatcher, Roi and The Secret People and The Beautiful Distortion, will be 3-8 p.m. Nov. 30 at Maingate Nightclub, 448 N. 17th St., Allentown.
Admission is $10 at the door, with all proceeds going to the fund for the fire victims. The United Way will work the door, organizers say. Donations of clean clothing also will be accepted. Maingate is just over a mile from the fire scene, where the homes have since been razed, and use of the club is being donated by owner Dominic Germano. Use of the sound system will be donated by Phil Forchelli of City Entertainment.
Investigators continue to seek the cause of the fire, and some of the Lehigh Valley’s principal assistance agencies are raising money for the victims. The United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, the American Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley-Bucks Chapter and the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley all have joined to collect and disburse donations for 47 people in 13 families.
